The HOOD Peerage Pedigree Database

These pages give a summary of the HOOD peerage pedigree as I have deduced it from various standard works, wills, parish registers etc.. My main interest in this is to try and resolve a 'family legend' that I am descended from this line. The earliest I have proved my line is a Samuel HOOD, married Sarah COOK at Bridport St Mary's 7 Apr 1768 (this marriage was witnessed by John HOOD, whose descendants have the same legend of a link to this line, and descendants of both have left contemporary documentary claims of the relationship). There is a great deal of circumstantial evidence to suggest this Samuel & John are the children of William & Jane HOOD. I have not continued the lines later than 1900 on these pages (except the line to my own mother). I have included notes on sources where applicable.

The earliest so far known is John HOOD of South Perrott.

If you have any additional details (no matter how small), corrections, additions, etc., or if you have connections from ANY Dorset/Somerset/Devon HOODs then I would be most grateful to hear from you.
